Cremations at the Canterbury
Memorial Gardens
How to organise a cremation
Cremating your loved one at the Canterbury Memorial Gardens crematorium requires the services of a funeral director, as we’re not resourced to care for your loved one’s body before the cremation.
There are recommendations for excellent funeral directors further down this page. We can also contact someone on your behalf. Your funeral director can make all arrangements for you and we’re here if you have questions.
You can hold a gathering to celebrate your loved one’s life here in our chapel. Once they’ve been cremated you may collect their ashes, ask your funeral director to collect them on your behalf, or inter them in the memorial gardens, if that is your wish.
We offer cremation services to meet the cultural needs of our diverse community, including Hindu and Japanese cremation traditions.
Cremation before a memorial gathering
It is possible to organise a cremation first and hold a memorial gathering for your loved one later. Your funeral director can help organise all the details. We’re delighted to host memorial gatherings in our chapel.

I attended the most lovely funeral at the Canterbury Memorial Gardens today. The wishes of the family were adhered to perfectly and staff were present but not overbearing. Thank you for caring.
